WORK VISAS TYPES:
In 2013, the Australian government introduced the General Skilled Migration program (Skill select) to replace Australian skilled worker visas.
The Skill select system is intended to assess applicants’ skills using a point-based system in order to select immigrants with the appropriate skills. The following criteria are used to assign points to applicants:
Age: Those between the ages of 25 and 32 receive the most points, while those over 45 receive none.
English language proficiency: Applicants must take the IELTS exam. You get 20 points if they get 8 bands or more.
Skilled employment: If you have experience in an occupation on the Skilled Occupations List, you will receive points based on the number of years of experience. The maximum number of points you can earn is 20.
Educational qualification: Your qualification must be related to your nominated occupation in order to receive points under this category. A doctorate entitles you to 20 points, while a bachelor’s or master’s degree entitles you to 15 points.
Australian qualifications: If you have an Australian qualification from an Australian educational institute, you can earn five points.
Regional study: If you have lived and studied in regional Australia, you can earn an extra 5 points.
Community language skills: If you have translator/interpreter level skills in one of the country’s community languages, you will receive an additional 5 points.
Skills and qualifications of your spouse/partner: If you have included your spouse/partner in the application and he/she is not an Australian resident/citizen, their skills are eligible to be counted towards your total points. You will receive an extra five points if your spouse/partner meets the basic requirements of the Australian General Skilled Migration Program.
Skilled Independent Visa: If you have the necessary skills and qualifications for specific occupations on the Skilled Occupation List, you may be eligible for this visa (SOL). This visa does not require an employer’s sponsorship. To see if your skills are in demand, use the Skill Select tool.
Employer Nomination Scheme: Under this scheme, workers sponsored by their employers are granted a permanent work visa.
TSS Visa (Temporary Skill Shortage: This visa allows individuals to work for two to four years, depending on the employee’s needs. Applicants must have a minimum of two years of work experience and be under the age of 45. Companies that hire people on this visa must pay them market wages.
